Think of us like any other trusted industry partner or rep—an extension of your vendor network. You lead the relationship, and we’re here to support you behind the scenes or step in when needed to provide detailed product or process insights. We’ll always coordinate with you first.

Why do you charge a design retainer- and how should we explain that to our clients who are already paying us for design?

Our design retainer ensures your cabinetry is designed, priced, and prepared with the highest level of accuracy from day one. While your designer provides the creative vision, our team handles all the technical work required to turn that vision into a flawless, buildable plan.

The retainer covers:

• Converting design concepts into precise, vendor-specific drawings

• Confirming all details: moldings, hinge specs, appliance panels, interiors, lighting, and clearances

• Creating accurate pricing based on materials, finishes, and installation scope

• Preparing the full documentation package needed for ordering and installation

This upfront work eliminates miscommunication, change orders, and installation issues later—saving time, money, and stress.
And if the project moves forward, the retainer is fully credited back to the final contract.

How to explain it to clients:
“We partner with a dedicated cabinetry studio that handles all of the technical drawings, details, and coordination behind the scenes. The design retainer covers the detailed work required to engineer and price your cabinetry accurately so installation goes smoothly. It’s credited back to your contract, and it ensures everything is done right the first time.”

Who does the Installation?

We do! Our installers are experienced cabinet builders and skilled craftsmen. They treat cabinetry like fine furniture and understand how to resolve challenges on-site. We also build in safeguards—like double-finished end panels and scribe allowances—to prevent delays and support a flawless fit.

What does the Price Include?

Our pricing includes cabinetry, hardware, lighting integration (if applicable), cabinet interior components, tax, freight, and installation.
We tailor every quote based on finish, door style, internal features, lighting, site access, and install complexity—because this isn’t a "drop it at the door" cabinet service. It’s full-service, design-driven delivery.

When should TCS be brought into the project?

The earlier the better! We’re happy to stay in the loop from early discussions, but the best time to bring us in is once the architect’s / designer’s layout is finalized and before pricing exercises. This allows us to collaborate with your electrician or contractor to ensure lighting or other technical considerations are fully integrated.

How do we get samples?

Just give us a call or email and we’ll prep samples for pickup or arrange drop-off. As you become a regular partner, we can build a curated mini-sample set for your office.
Keep in mind we don’t stock all 300+ styles in the showroom, but we can order samples for you.

How long do samples take to arrive?

Standard sample doors take 3–4 weeks. Custom styles or custom colors can take 4–6 weeks.

Can we check out samples?

Absolutely! You’re welcome to borrow samples for up to two weeks. If you need more time, just let us know. No deposit is required—we simply collect credit card info in case something is lost or not returned after 30 days.
